Some men just love to play mind games with their women, primarily because of their own uncertainty or perhaps because they want to gauge you. One way would be to treat him in the same coin and then give him an ultimatum.
Ignore his attitude
Initially try ignoring his attitude as though you have not noticed anything different about his behavior with you. Just play along in your own cool manner thereby puzzling him about your not being affected and reacting.

Treat him the same
An apparent way to react is by repeating the same behavior that he meets out to you. If he flirts, or ignores you and even if he is extra lovey-dovey then in all such things you too should play the same game. Only then will he realize that he needs to change.
Distance yourself
If none of the above has any effect on him and he does not change then you must distance yourself from him for a while till he turns around and comes to you. This probably would be an apt reaction on your side to make him realize that this is not what you'll accept of him.
Time to talk with him
You could broach the subject of his behavior and tell him that this is totally unacceptable to you. You expect a clear cut indication one way or other as to whether he wants to be with you or not. But address this firmly or else he'll resort to the same tactics again.
Maintain a cool attitude
Perhaps it would be well to maintain a cool attitude towards him if he continues in the same manner. Show him disinterest and indifference so that he realizes you mean business by this new attitude of yours. He will soon come on the right track.
You know he's playing games
It would be well for you to let him know that you see through the games he's playing with you. Let him know that you too can play such games if that is what he wants. Make it clear to him that if two people really want each other then they don't play games.
The ultimatum
The last reaction you must understand has to be firm. You must clearly tell him that you want nothing to do with him henceforth because you are tired of his "blow hot blow cold" games. You want a steady relationship which makes you happy and not keep you on tenterhooks of playing a guessing game throughout.
